Introduction:

Bogra is an industrial and commercial city in North Bengal. It belongs to Rajshahi division. it’s called the gateway to North Bengal. It is a city of art. a traditional ancient town of North Bengal in Bangladesh, was established here. The present name of Pundravardhana( the capital of the ancient Pundra kingdom), is Mahasthangarh, which is situated in the district of Bogra. this is geographically located in an earthquake danger zone. Moreover, Bogra district is part of the Barind land which is notable for its grey and red soil. This district was established in 1821. 13 Upazilas in Bogra district. Maurya was followed by the Gupta period followed by Shashanka, Harshavardhana, Yashovardhana, Pala, Madan and Senraj dynasties. Later, Sultan Nasir Uddin, son of Sultan Gias Uddin Balban, was the ruler of Bogra. the Bogra is named after him. The economy of this district is dependent on industry, trade and agriculture.

Mahasthangarh-

Mahasthangarh is located in Shibganj upazila of Bogra district. The ancient Pundranagari has about 4,000 years old installations. You can visit Mahasthangarh directly by autorickshaw or CNG from city.

Kherua Mosque-

Kherua Mosque is about 25 km from Bogra city. After getting off at Sherpur Upazila from Bogra, you can go to Kherua Mosque by rickshaw or CNG. In 1572, Mirza Murad Khan, son of Jawahar Ali Kakshal, built the Kakshal Kherua Mosque.

Gokul Medh-

Gokul Medh is 2 km from Mahasthangarh in city. it is an archaeological site located at Gokul village in Sadar. Many have also called it Medh of Lakshmi Mandir. The 162 chambers were filled with soil on different floors and reduced from the bottom to the top, and the main foundation was arranged in a stratified ascending chamber so that they could be used as the foundation of a high temple or mound.

Vasu Bihar-

Vasu Bihar, an ancient archaeological site, is situated in the village of Bihar which is 8 km from Mahasthan in Shibganj Upazila of the district. It was the first excavation of Vasu Bihar from 1973 to 1984. The famous Chinese traveller Hiuen Tsang referred to this place as “Po-shi-poh” or “World Monastery”.



Yogi’s building-

The distance from Bogra district to Yogi Bhaban is only 16 km. When you reach Bogra, you can reach Yogi Bhaban by CNG or auto-rickshaw via Bogra Kotlal Road. A number of ancient religious structures have been set up on a 60-acre site in Paikar Union of Kahalu Upazila of the district.

Bhim forest-

From district city, you can go to different places of Bhim forest by renting CNG or auto rickshaw. Bhim forest is a road and barrier built in the Barind region of northern Bengal in the early or middle ages. There are many other things about the expansion of the forest of Bhim.

Rani Bhabani’s father’s house-

You can rent a rickshaw from Santahar in Bogra district for 20/30 rupees to visit Rani Bhabani’s father’s house. R. Bhabani was born at Chatiangram in Santahar district. R . Bhabani’s father’s house is on the verge of destruction due to lack of renovation and protection.

Poradoho fair-

You have to go Golabari in Chelopara of Bogra district headquarters to go to Poradoho Mela(fair) with CNG. A traditional folk fair is organized every year at Poradoho on the banks of Ichamati River in Gabtali Upazila of the district. In the beginning, Poradoho Mela was called Sannyasi Mela. But due to organizing fairs at a place called Poradaha, the name of Poradaha place started to be spread in public. This fair is organized every year on the last Wednesday of the last three days of the month of Magh in the Bengali year or on the first Wednesday of the month of Falgun.

Bihar Dhaph-

Bihar Dhap has located about 4 km from Mahasthangarh in Bogra and only 1 km from Vasu Bihar. it’s an archaeological site located in Shibganj Upazila of Bogra district. Adjacent to the river Sagar, this structure is also known to the locals as Totaram Pandit’s Dhap or Totaram Pandit’s house.

Parashuram’s palace-

You can reach Parashuram’s palace by renting a CNG or auto rickshaw from Thanthaniya bus stand or Satmatha in Bogra city. Parashuram’s palace is one of the ancient civilizations discovered on the border of Mahasthangarh in Shibganj Upazila of the district.

Kundali of Mankali-

From Bogra Jhela you can go to Mankali mound by CNG or auto rickshaw. Mankali Kunda is one of the ancient civilizations of Shibganj Upazila.
