* Welcome to Chakaria, upzela of one of the longest beaches in Cox’s Bazar. The headquarters of the thana was established here in 1893. The proverb naming chakriya from CHALKED AREA is quite acceptable. The Chakraya region was able to attract the attention of the British in the light of its resources, natural location, strategic considerations and financial infrastructure. Overall, the British government declared the area now known as Chakaria as ‘CHALKED AREA’. As a result, the area gets the status of a special area separate from other areas. After the announcement, the word ‘choked area’ was mentioned in brackets after the name of the area. At one point the bracket went up and the area became known as ‘Chakar Area’. Which gradually changed its name to Chakraria. Later, Dr. was released from Chakdaria and took the name Chakriya.
