Introduction-
Sunamganj is an administrative region in the Sylhet Division of northeastern Bangladesh. It is bounded by Khasia and Jaintia hills on the north, Sylhet district on the east, Habiganj district on the south, Netrokona district and Kishoreganj district on the west. Sunamganj was named after Sumamuddi, a Mughal sepoy. From the legend and historical information, it is assumed that the whole area of Sunamganj district belonged to the ancient kingdom of Kamrup or Pragjatishpur. Sumamganj is mainly dependent on agriculture. It produces a lot of paddies which is playing an important role in the economy of Bangladesh.

Tanguar Haor-
Tanguar Haor is about 100 square Km. It is the second-largest freshwater wetland in Bangladesh and declared as Ramsar site. It is also known to the locals as “Nayakuri Kandar Chaikuri Beel. Numerous birds, reptiles and amphibians, fisheries, flora and fauna can be seen here.
From Sunamganj city you have to go to Tahirpur then you can go to Tanguar Haor.
Shimul Bagan (Bombax Garden)-
Shimul garden in this region is the largest Shimul garden in the country, situated on the banks of the river Jadukata and on the other side of the river in India.
It has been established on about 100 bighas of land in Manigaon village near Jadukata river in Tahirpur Upazila of this district.
Shaheed Siraj Lake-
It is located in Tahirpur, Sunamganj district of Bangladesh and very near to the border of India
Hassan Raja-
A mystic poet and Baul artist whose real name is Dewan Hasan Raja who had born in this Sunamganj district.
